SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA , - January 30, 2006 Power Analog Microelectronics (PAM), a developer of Class-D digital audio amplifiers and innovative power management semiconductors, today announced the introduction of six Class-D audio amplifiers, including the new 2 Watt family, and expands its 1.2 Watt product offerings.

The four PAM8x02 products are new additions to the family of class-D audio amplifiers from PAM, and they deliver 2W into an 8-ohm load, at less than 10% THD+Noise, with efficiencies of over 85%. Only one input coupling capacitor per channel is needed in the external circuit. The PAM8102 is a mono Class-D audio amplifier housed in an 8-pin SOP, while the PAM8202 is a stereo Class-D audio amplifier packaged in an 8-pin SOP. The PAM8302 is a mono Class-D audio amplifier with mute/enable function and is housed in an 8-pin SOP, while the PAM8402 is a stereo Class-D audio amplifier with mute/enable function and is packaged in a 14-pin SOP.

"With the introduction of the PAM8x02 series of 2W Class-D digital audio amplifiers, PAM continues to expand its product offerings to the rapidly growing market where high-performance, highly efficient and energy saving solutions are critical to meet customers demand for next generation products,", said Johnston Chen, President and CEO of PAM. "In the past, Class-D products have been prohibitively expensive; however, our cost-effective approach has made it possible to deliver Class-D solutions at competitive price points approaching the more traditional Class-AB products."

The company also extends its PAM8x01 series, the 1.2 Watt family of products, with the introduction of PAM8301 (mono) and PAM8401 (stereo) Class-D audio amplifier, both with mute/enable functions in an 8-pin SOP package. All six products introduced today are ideal for applications such as cellular phones, MP3, PMP, portable-DVD, GPS navigation, powered speakers and other portable electronic devices.
